UNSUNG heroes who work to help others learn have been nominated for a national award.
Paul Warde and Julie Brick, from Bury Lifelong Learning Service in Radcliffe, have been put forward for Star awards to recognise their efforts in delivering high quality learning.
Paul, an ICT mobile unit technician, was nominated for the award for outstanding learning support, by adult education co-ordinator Julie Kendrick.
She said: "Paul has made an enormous difference to learners and has encouraged them to enjoy IT."
Paul takes laptops out into the community, and works with young disaffected adults, through to over-70s.
Julie Brick, programme manager for widening participation, has been nominated for the adult and community learning tutor of the year award.
The work she does for the Lifelong Learning Service involves providing learning opportunities for adults.
Ms Kenrick, said: "Julie has helped to increase numbers at the service over the last two years and provides creative ideas to stimulate learning. Her interpersonal skills receive a warm response from the learners."
The 130 short-listed nominees will attend a special award ceremony in London, on October 12, where 13 prize winners will be announced. Each winner will receive a £1,000 cash prize, a trophy and a certificate. Their employer will receive a framed certificate.
