TWO Bury companies have formed a rock solid partnership by investing £500,000 to cement a bright future.

Platt Building and Construction has teamed up with Aquablast Services to offer domestic and commercial clients a concrete mixing facility: right on their doorstep!

Both businesses have joined forces to trade as MeetaMix. They have purchased two large, state-of-the-art concrete mixing vehicles which will soon become familiar sights at construction sites and builders merchants throughout Bury.

The companies have a combined workforce of 70 and although they've come together for this new venture will still continue to carry out work in their separate fields.

Platt's own predicament in trying to get concrete urgently for a contract they were fulfilling proved the catalyst for the launch of MeetaMix.

Mr Heath Singleton, contracts manager with the thriving building firm, explained: "We were doing concreting over on a site at Pilsworth and we discovered there was no local service offering a quick cement service.

"There are plenty of trucks in the North West and South Manchester. But in our area, there was nothing. There wasn't a service we could get. So, you end up at the back of the queue as far as ordering is concerned.

"But MeetaMix provides a same day service for all local builders, whether they are a major commercial company involved in a big construction project or a domestic customer carrying out work at their house".

As part of their promotion and marketing drive, MeetaMix has contacted numerous firms and builders merchants, all of whom have expressed an interest.

If customers place orders for cement with building suppliers, MeetaMix can either deliver quarter metre bags of semi-dry concrete to the premises or bring along the mixing vehicle to spew out the required load.

Mr Mark Horridge, managing director of Bury-based Aquablast Services Ltd, sees real potential for the innovative business venture with Platt's. "We've invested £500,000 in purchasing the two vehicles and the preparation involved in launching MeetaMix.

These are wonderful, computerised machines which can provide anything from a barrow-load and up to 60 metres of cement per hour. All the basic ingredients are put in and then out comes the cement".

Aquablast has established an enviable reputation for itself since being launched ten years ago. The company is involved in drain cleaning, tank cleaning and work involving oil interceptors. And Mark has also worked closely with Groundwork Bury to earn strict environmental-friendly credentials for his company.
