GREENMOUNT took advantage of Walkden's bad weekend to move into second place behind Westhoughton in the Bolton League table.
While the reigning champions were on the wrong end of results against Egerton and Kearsley the village side picked up a winning draw at Eagley then scraped a one-wicket win at home to Little Lever.
Professional Nishit Shetty top scored for Greenmount on Saturday with 65 as they set a target of 189 for 6.
Also among the runs were Andy Bowker (32), John Ashworth (29) while Mark Stewart chipped in with an unbeaten 31.
The Bolton side never looked likely to overhaul that total but held on for a losing draw finishing on 106 for 7.
On Sunday the local side almost threw the game away after seemingly having the match well under control.
Stewart was in devastating mood with the ball taking 7 for 40 as Lever were dismissed for 108.
But in the reply wickets fell far too regularly and Greenmount found themselves on 108 for 9 with the pressure well and truly on.
However, Martin Kay and Paul Blinkhorn managed to calm the home spectators' nerves and after a few hair-raising moments the crucial winning run was acquired.
