A COMMUNITY centre in Darwen is hoping people will get behind one final push to raise cash for young Eva Heeks.

Staff and volunteers at Sudellside Community Centre have held several events to raise cash for little Eva, who will be two next month.

Eva, whose father Ray runs Darwen Kung-Fu, contracted meningitis as a baby and was left suffering from brain damage. She has been left deaf, blind, unable to walk, talk, breathe or eat on her own and many local people have been touched by her story. Cash raised at various events organised by people from Sudellside Community Centre will be handed over to Eva's parents shortly but they are hoping a fun day on September 26 will give the total amount a final boost.

Anyone with items which can be used for a bric-a-brac stall and tombola on the day should take them to the centre between 8.30am and 4pm.
