IN November last year the Prime Minister gave his personal assurances to the House of Commons that the hunting issue would be resolved but Parliamentary time has yet to be allocated.

Mr Blair must keep his word and reintroduce the hunting bill before the end of this parliamentary session. If he keeps his word, hunting with dogs can be outlawed by the end of 2004.

The matter is quite simple. Hunting with dogs is cruel, barbaric and it cannot be justified on any grounds. The excitement of the hunt can be reproduced by the drag-hunt which chases the scent without the fox. This ensures that needs of hunt members are catered for and job losses minimised.
