The New Zealander, in as sub pro at Centre Vale against hosts TODMORDEN, dispatched the first five balls of Hurr Abbass's over, the 48th of the innings, straight over the boundary rope before hitting a two off a no ball and a further four of the extra delivery.

This gave Harris 36 runs off one over to set a new Lancashire League record.

In all he hit six fours and seven sixes in his innings of 111 balls, which came to an end on 114 not out and Haslingden on 249-5.

Todmorden pro Gyan Pandey did his best to match Harris as struck eight fours and two sixes on his assault on the Haslingden attack but despite his 74 nobody could upstage Harris.

He took 6-69 as Todmorden collapsed to 126 all out and Haslingden moved three points clear by winning their game in hand on Church.

RAMSBOTTOM maintained their challenge on the title, mainly thanks to the usual tight spell by Indian Murali Kartik, who conceded just 32 runs off 23.2 overs and took five wickets to dismiss ENFIELD for 98.

The run chase wasn't too straightforward due to Imran Abid's spell yielding three wickets but Kartik hit 42 to see his side home for the loss of four wickets, keeping them nine points off the top.

Peter Seal was in outstanding form for RAWTENSTALL with 101 and 5-68 in their victory over Colne.

Seal hit 11 fours and two sixes and his opening stand of 96 with pro Andrew Payne (49) was instrumental in them getting to 201-7.

As well as Seal's excellent bowling spell, Keith Roscoe chipped in with 4-57 to halt Colne's reply at 178, which featured a battling 56 from sub pro Dale Benkenstein.

Early season pace setters LOWERHOUSE were still not out of the race on Saturday night, when they finished the day 16 points behind Haslingden.

They reduced ACCRINGTON to 154-7 as Tama Canning only managed 21 in his farewell innings before joining the New Zealand A tour to South Africa. Jonathan Finch took 4-59.

Another Kiwi joining Canning in the A side, fared better as pro Peter Fulton scored 57 not out to help Lowerhouse to victory by eight wickets. Chris Bleazard helped him out with an unbeaten 69.

Phil Mercer's 68 for EAST LANCS was his highest in League matches this season, as he shared an opening stand of 108 with Phil Bolton in their thrashing of BACUP.

Mercer faced 111 balls and hit seven fours and two sixes, his half century coming from 64 balls as East Lancs reached 195-4.

Bacup were then ripped out for just 88, Hugh Doyle taking 5-47 and sub pro Quinton Friend 4-13.
