THE article in the LET of August 24 re Hitler's plans to invade Britain and in particular East Lancashire, causes one to wonder, if the invasion had gone ahead and been successful what, after the inevitable enormous bloodshed, loss of life and destruction, would the country have been like today?
As a Second World War veteran, I and many of those I know of the dwindling band of survivors, feel most strongly that what we have now is most certainly not the type of country we fought to preserve and were prepared to die for. Or, have things deteriorated to the extent that the view is not permitted to be stated or published?
