A HUNCOAT pensioner who "skipped into surgery" for a hysterectomy died of multi-organ failure after surgeons hit complications, an inquest heard.
Nancy Healey, 68, of Burnley Road, was admitted to Queen's Park Hospital, Blackburn, to have an operation to treat cancer of the uterus on June 17.
But surgery which she received 16 years earlier to remove a tumour in her bowel had left adhesions which caused complications, the hearing was told.
Mrs Healey seemed to be recovering well from her latest operation initially, but several days after surgery her condition deteriorated.
She developed septicemia, which led to failure of her vital organs and obstruction of the small bowel. She died at Blackburn Royal Infirmary on June 28.
Her daughter Lynn Mortimer, 37, said after the hearing: "She went in very well - she skipped into surgery.
"She was a very young 68, very fit and healthy and had 110 per cent faith in the medical profession."
Coroner Michael Singleton recorded a verdict of misadventure.
