NEW posters warning of the dangers of bunking off school are to be put up in Kwik Save supermarkets across Lancashire.
The posters - designed by the Education Welfare team at Lancashire County Council (LCC) - will be put up at 15 stores across the county, including several on the Fylde coast.
It is hoped that parents, as well as young people, will realise the importance of education with the poster's simple message of "Bunking Off - Missing Out"
The poster is the latest addition to the council's anti-truancy efforts which has used a similar poster campaign on billboards and bus-shelters over the last few years.
LCC Education Welfare team member, Mike Sunderland said: "We want to send out a clear message that missing out on an education can limit options for the future.
"If young people are not in school then they are also increasingly vulnerable to
becoming involved in crime or becoming the victim of crime themselves.
"Everyone in the community visits a supermarket and this is a great way to attract attention to a vitally important subject."
