TWO sets of brothers from Bury have been banned for two years from entering town centre pubs, clubs and restaurants.

And one of the men has been jailed for his involvement in a large-scale fight in April which left five men injured and forced police to order revellers to barricade themselves inside pubs while they tackled the disturbance.

David and Brett Fielding and Martin and Michael McDwyer were given the Anti-Social Behaviour Orders (ASBOs) when they were sentenced at Bolton Crown Court on Thursday (Aug 26), after earlier pleading guilty to affray.

The ASBOs prevent the four men from: using abusive, insulting, offensive, threatening or intimidating language or behaviour in a public place or in any place the public has access to; being drunk or consuming alcohol within Bury town centre; entering the town centre during the evening, between the hours of 7pm and 7am; and entering any licensed bar, restaurant or club within the town centre.

In addition to the ASBO, Martin McDwyer (22) of Trimmingham Drive, Brandlesholme, was sentenced to six-months in prison, while his 19-year-old brother Michael, of the same address, received a 12-month community rehabilitation order.

David Fielding (23) of White Street, and 22-year-old Brett Fielding, of Scholes Street, both received community punishment orders.

All four were arrested after police were called to the town centre at 8.20pm on Good Friday after fighting started outside a bar in Silver Street.

Five people were injured, including one man who was knocked unconscious and another who suffered a broken nose and hand.

Inspector Vincent Jones, of Bury Police, has welcomed the court's decision to grant ASBOs against the offenders.

He said: "The scenes we faced on that evening were outrageous and a number of people were injured in the incident.

"We are pleased that the men have received anti-social behaviour orders to prevent then from engaging in acts of this nature."
