I DO not believe there are many Lancastrians who do not have a member of their family who have not served in the Queen's Lancashire Regiment.
My grandfather, Private Herbert Greenwood, of the Royal North Lancashire Regiment was killed in action in France in October, 1917.
As a tradesman and the father of four young children he did not have to volunteer, it would be a crime and an insult to his memory and all the young men who have served bravely and gallantly in this "our" Queen's Lancashire Regiment if it was to lose its identity.
