SHAKERS boss Graham Barrow fears that he could lose defender Paul Scott if the Shakers cannot sort out a contract for him quickly.
Scott is currently at Bury on a non-contract basis, having been released by Huddersfield Town following their promotion last summer.
The centre-back, aged 24, has impressed with some wholehearted displays since making his debut against Chester 11 days ago.
"We have a week to sort something out and I have explained the situation to Paul," said Barrow.
"I'd really like to do a deal with him as I think he could do a job for us in midfield too.
"We'll have to move quickly because another club will snap him up if we don't.
"I'm hoping we'll be able to sort something out."
