MORE than 2,700 properties including 83 in Lancashire will open to the public as party of Heritage Open Days.
The event, from September 10 to 13, has been co-ordinated by the Civic Trust and English Heritage.
Visitors will have the chance to take a free guided tour of the 18th century Goodshaw Chapel, Rawtenstall, which was fully restored in 1985.
There is also a rare opportunity to go behind the scenes at Burnley Police Station.
Patrick Burke, Outreach Officer for English Heritage in the North West, said: "This is our chance to celebrate the region's diverse cultures and histories, our people and their places.
"English Heritage has been working in new areas with different communities across the region to encourage them to take part in Heritage Open Days and open up buildings which are important to them.
"It is the hard work and enthusiasm of these volunteers that makes Heritage Open days happen."
