A FREEPHONE service is available to people in the Leigh area to confirm their electoral roll details.
Wigan, Warrington and Bolton are among 168 councils nationwide working with Electoral Reform Services (ERS) to offer people an easy way to register.
Freephone registration means registration updates are immediate and more accurate, and there are significant reductions in the costs of the canvass for most councils.
The Freephone registration system also accommodates the new 'opt-out' rules (introduced in 2002), allowing users to add or remove their names from the edited version of the register used by mailing companies. The system also allows callers to request a postal vote application form.
