A 24-YEAR-OLD man suffered serious head injuries following a fight outside a pub in Leigh.
He became involved in a row with another man outside the Chambers pub in Railway Road at around 1.15am last Thursday.
Both men are believed to have spent the evening drinking in the bar.
As a result of the fight, both men were taken to hospital.
A 21-year-old man was discharged a short time later and was arrested on suspicion of Section 18 assault. He has been bailed pending further enquiries.
The 24-year-old remains in hospital in a stable condition.
Detective Constable Paulo Dale from Leigh CID said: "There were a number of people around on the street at the time of the altercation and I am appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact us."
