ANOTHER Surridge Cup match and another narrow defeat for Brox, leaving them with thoughts of what might have been.

Euxton were the visitors to Summerseat and they sneaked home by one wicket.

Things started badly for Brox, losing a wicket in the first over and that theme continued despite a brave 34 from Simon Armsbey.

Once he'd become the fourth man in the shed, Aussie ace Josh Pellowe livened things up with a cavalier 42 in dominating a half century stand with Trevor Morton which brought partial rescue to the Brox cause.

Sadly, only David Brown of the tailenders was able to offer any resistance as Brooksbottoms edged towards the 150 mark.

For the third time this season, Euxton's Liam Jackson and Craig Millward were the scourge of the home side.

Their 80-run partnership saved their side from the early trouble of 4 for 2.

While those two were at the crease, Brox were out of the game but home skipper Ernill, currently bowling with pace and panache, removed both.

Two further wickets from the captain, together with one from Pellowe kept Brox just about in the game.

However, when the visitors contributed a farcical run-out, they were still three short of victory with just the last man to come.

There was to be no fairytale comeback for Brox however, as one strike over in the field saw Euxton sneak home.
