WHITEFIELD man Bryan Seddon has added another chapter to his book selling business.

After operating shops in Prestwich and Radcliffe, he's now set up in a former post office in Bolton Road, Bury.

And The Book Shop is set to act as a magnet for local book worms. Bryan's stock of 50,000 titles is set to eventually soar to around a staggering two million to provide book lovers with every conceivable range of literary works.

The new shop was officially opened by Bury mayor, Councillor Barry Briggs.

Bryan said: "I've set up in the old post office and this marks my first business venture in Bury. When the premises here became available, I decided to invest a lot of money in the place. I will be offering a service in the area to the local community and specialising in the books they want."

Previously, the businessman operated a book shop in Warwick Street, Prestwich, which he ran for ten months. Later, he opened a 10p book store in Radcliffe before deciding to switch the business to Bury.

He added: "I have 50,000 books in stock already and this is a little Aladdin's Cave. The shop is crammed wall to wall with books. The number will eventually reach two million. Whatever people want to read, I'll endeavour to get it for them.

"I also offer a service for those with eyesight difficulties by supplying large print books. And I also deal in audio reading tape and Braille books as well as all the latest titles and antiquarian books. And I have book exchange service too."

Bryan is severely disabled and uses crutches and a wheelchair. "But this doesn't stop me working," he says. "I'm very happy in what I do."

The businessman is also an active supporter of the UK Fundraisers 2004. Surplus clothes, bric-a-brac, shoes, bags and other items can be taken to the shop and the goods will be passed on by Bryan to the charity.
