ROSSENDALE United are hoping Gambian international Baboucarr Njie turns out to be a 'Lucky' FA Cup omen.

Dale will hand the former Manchester United trialist a debut in tomorrow's preliminary round tie against Liversedge at Dark Lane.

And boss Ashley Hoskin now wants Njie - known as Lucky - to live up to his name.

He said: "Baboucarr comes recommended to us by a contact at Manchester United and he has signed for us, hopefully as a stepping stone to better things.

"He played for Accrington Stanley in pre-season and I've heard good things about him, so let's give him a chance."

Hoskin, who has pulled off a second coup by signing ex-Blackburn Rovers midfielder Peter Corvino added: "It has been a whirlwind week.

"Peter still had 12-months left on his deal with Blackburn, but he decided to cut loose and try his luck elsewhere.

"He was due at Bury on Monday, but after training with us last night he has decided he just wants to enjoy his football for a while and we will allow him to do that.

"It is a massive coup for Rossendale to have both Peter and Baboucarr on board and hopefully that will be the boost we need ahead of a big game.

"I don't know too much about Liversedge, but the way I see it, let's let them worry about us.

"We've had a mixed bag of results so far, but at Telford last week the lads showed me they can compete and now we don't need to have any worries about the weekend."
