COLNE are sensing some more cup fever, and there's no better place to catch it than their destination for tomorrow's FA Cup tie.

Last year's FA Vase heroes travel to Chester-le-Street, one of the teams they saw off on their way to the semi-finals last year.

And Colne manager Nigel Coates will be calling on his memories from that 3-2 victory, as well as former club Nelson, as he prepares his side for the trip to the north east.

Chester-le-Street booked their place in the preliminary round with a 1-0 win over Colne's neighbours Nelson last Saturday.

Coates said: "A similar result to last year will go down nicely.

"We'll be getting a low down on them from the Nelson lads so we don't go there completely blind, but it will be tough."

Striker Ian Simpson is suspended throughout September, but skipper Scott Gizon could play his first game of the season, while Brad Pates and Paul Walker are also back in contention after making the bench against Peterlee.

Dave Bradford is hoping the middle men will carve out a path to the FA Cup first qualifying round tomorrow.

The GREAT HARWOOD TOWN manager is preparing for the visit of Glasshoughton Welfare with Monday night's 3-0 home defeat to Atherton LR fresh in the memory.

"I'm thinking of packing the midfield because we didn't get hold of the ball at all," said Bradford.

"It was Dennis Hill's first game but he was just chasing shadows because we didn't have enough in there and their number 10 was running the game.

"I want to stay in the FA Cup because of the money it gives the club so we need to play a system where our strikers will get chances.

Hill's comeback has been short-lived, as he is attending a wedding tomorrow but Bradford is hoping Neil Kennedy will return to take his place in the side.

CLITHEROE will be without Martin Aspinwall but Barrie Hart is hoping to return as the Blues take on Tow Law Town at Shawbridge in their preliminary round tie.

Manager Lee Sculpher said: "They are a famous name, but every team from the Northern League is very difficult to play against - they won't give an inch."
