BURY'S TV bride Sam Lilley will limp rather than walk down the aisle today when she marries her sweetheart in front of millions of viewers.

For the 23-year-old bride-to-be sustained a hairline fracture of her ankle at her "hen" party just 48 hours before the televised marriage.

But the wedding in the Cypriot resort of Paphos, to be broadcast by GMTV, will still go ahead despite the mishap.

Radcliffe hairdresser Darren Foster (31), and Sam, from Hollins, flew out to Cyprus last weekend to meet legal requirements to marry on the Mediterranean island.

Family members joined the couple on Wednesday, hours before the "hen" party at which Sam sustained her injury.

Interviewed "live" on GMTV yesterday, Sam was using a wheelchair as she rested her ankle on the eve of her wedding.

She said: "The ankle is not too bad. It's a bit sore, but I'll be fine."

According to the programme, Darren was in floods of tears when he went to the hospital where his bride-to-be was being treated for her injury.

Despite the setback, however, the couple will tie the knot today as planned.

They are being married by the Rev Marvin Bamforth, the Anglican priest in the resort, in St George's Chapel, between 8am and 9am. A reception will follow at the St George Hotel.

Every aspect of the couple's wedding, such as the outfits, location and menus, has been chosen by viewers through a series of weekly phone-ins.

Darren's best man is Clive Powers, who lived opposite him when they were children and have known each other since they were six.

Sam will have three bridesmaids, with her sister, Geraldine, as maid of honour.
