JON Newby was on target for Bury reserves on Wednesday afternoon as they fought out a 1-1 draw with a strong Blackpool side at Bloomfield Road.
The Seasiders opened the scoring in the second half with a deflected effort credited to Jamie Burns.
However, Chris Casper's men earned a share of the spoils when Newby fired home late in the game.
The striker might have scored minutes earlier had he not been upended by Danny Whittaker when clean through and the Pool player picked up a red card for his trouble.
The only black spot for the Shakers was an ankle injury sustained by youngster Shaun Roscoe who had to be carried off.
BURY: Smith, Barrow, Roscoe, Whaley, Barrass, Cartledge, Woodthorpe, Buchanan, Kazim-Richards, Newby, Douglas-Pringle. Subs: Turner, Horrocks, Theophanous and Maloney.
