STOOD in a very long queue at the post office on Tuesday I wondered if any of the powers that be, who make decisions about our city, ever come into Preston to see life as it is.
Maybe it was the bank holiday the previous day, and the fact that it was lunchtime, but people were queuing out of the door and onto Mount Street.
Although the post office workers were working flat out to get through everyone as quickly as they could, it still took me about half-an-hour to get to a teller.
In my lunch break from work this is not acceptable and made me think that the city planners and Post Office Counters should look at putting a second post office in the old building, where it used to be, near the Flag Market.
They are shutting down that many smaller post offices that more and more people are having to use the main post office. Despite on-line this and that, and benefit payments paid directly into your bank, there is still a big demand for the services of our post offices.
