LEEK TOWN ... 0 RADCLIFFE BORO ... 0

BORO arrived minus their kit and left with a point after a tense struggle with fellow promotion hopefuls Leek.

Motorway congestion meant that the Boro kit didn't arrive in time and saw Kevin Glendon's men take to the field in the home side's away strip.

However, it was the Leek shirt donned by the home side that had a brighter start as a lightweight Boro midfield struggled to get to grips with their physical opponents.

And, after some early scares, Glendon re-jigged his side by replacing the ineffective Jamie Baguley with Richard Battersby despite the game being only 20 minutes young.

However, the Boro front two of Phil Denney and Steve Foster were starved of any real service as they toiled away manfully against a disciplined Leek defence.

Foster could have done better when his tame shot drifted wide but it was all one-way traffic and only some woeful finishing and some good saves kept the scores level at half-time. And, Glendon was forced to replace the injured Andy Heald on the stroke of half-time to ensure his half-time brew didn't go down without a few worries.

Steven Hill replaced Heald and Boro started the second period a little brighter but were still indebted to some stout defending from the impressive Paul Challinor, Simon Kelly and Ryan Price.

Denney was looking more menacing up front as the game opened up and Boro looked even more incisive when ex-Rochdale starlet Rory Patterson was flung into the fray to add more guile front.

The livewire striker was soon into the action and shot wide with his first touch of the game before turning his marker and hitting the post minutes later.

Boro could have snatched it when Patterson fired over the bar from six yards out but it wasn't to be and the Stainton Park outfit travelled back with just the one point, a clean sheet and a fresh kit!

BORO: Hurst, Duffy, Heald (Hill), Kelly, Challinor, Baguley (Battersby), Wilson, Carden, Denney, Foster (Patterson), Price.
