IN his/her letter headlined "Love Thy Neighbour" (August 20) regarding the plan for flats in Walmersley for the mentally ill, T. O'Neill piously states:
"Mr Rimmer seems more worried about Santa's Sleigh being moved from storage than human beings being given safe accommodation".
Well, I'm afraid T. O'Neill has got it wrong.
If he/she had read my letter more carefully, he/she would have realised my concern was solely about Bury Council's management of the planning consultation process with regard to the Mill Lane flats. The only reason I mentioned Santa's Sleigh was because notice-to-quit has been served on Bury Lions prior to planning consent being granted.
Or, could it be that T. O'Neill deliberately misconstrued my comment so that he/she could sanctimoniously pontificate about opposition to the planning application?
Incidentally, apart from a terse denial at the end of an article in the Bury Times, I have still not had any response from the council about the points raised in my original letter.
DAVID RIMMER,
Bevis Green,
Walmersley, Bury.
