PUPILS from Rossendale School in Ramsbottom are celebrating success in the GCSE examinations.
The specialist residential school for young people aged seven to 16, entered six pupils for the exams. They achieved 46 grades, 54 per cent at grade A to C.
And one pupil at the school, which caters for youngsters with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties, gained an A grade, six Bs and two Cs.
The same GCSE pupils also took Key Skills examinations and recorded a 100 per cent pass rate.
Head teacher Mr David Duncan said: "We are delighted with the achievements of our students. Most of our pupils have experienced emotional traumas, combined with a range of syndrome-related disorders.
"All of these children have failed in mainstream schools but with skilled teaching, tailored to the pupils' specialist needs, many of them achieve considerable success and progress to mainstream further education colleges and sixth form colleges."
