PLANS to surface over a cobbled street in Nelson have been delayed pending a report on the success of road repairs.
Residents in Oak Street requested the surface be covered in Bitmac, and the case was taken up by Councillor Mohammed Munir.
But councillors rejected the request to resurface the road which, a report says, is in good condition -- and it is also against the council's policy of retaining cobbled streets.
Now minor works are to be carried out to repair a depression in part of the road.
After this, council officers will gauge the success of the repairs, and whether residents still want the resurfacing work.
Coun Mohammed Iqbal said: "The residents are unhappy at that particular part of the road.
"I think if the depression is sorted out it will solve the problem."
