LEIGH Golf Club won the Wigan and District Junior Victory Trophy to add to the male equivalent they won in June.
The club picked up the Jack Case Cup for the lowest aggregate team gross score of all the seven teams that entered. Their score of 397 was one shot better that second placed Gathurst and 10 ahead of third placed Dean Wood
Even though Dean Wood were pushed back into third place in the team gross category, they still came away with the championship trophy for the lowest aggregate nett score. Their 356 was three better than Wigan's and four ahead of Leigh and hosts Gathurst.
It was not all bad news for Gathurst as two of their young players picked up individual awards. Scratch handicapper Andrew Halladay won the Jack Elsworth Cup for the lowest gross score. His two over par 72 was the same as shot by Leigh's Luke Burrows but Halladay took the prize after count-back as he had the better back nine score.
Gathurst's James Robinson finished third, three shots back on 75. Gathurst collected the second individual win for the best individual nett score of 67 from David Smethurst. Both Dean Jolley of Wigan and Sean Brown of Dean Wood pushed him very close. Jolley finished second and Brown third again after a back nine count-back.
