IN the UK there are an estimated 24,000 people who are deafblind or dual sensory impaired. The Deafblind UK website (www.deafblind.org.uk) aims to use the internet to help reach out to people and offer support and advice.

It is a very simple, well laid out site that allows you to find out more about the organisation as well as the latest news about its work.

This includes one of its members travelling at over 130mph on a custom-built quadbike and details of the work the group undertakes in Europe.

There is also a page dedicated to learning the deafblind alphabet, which involves touching different points of the hand. It is a very interesting site well worth a visit.

You can also find out why it appears that heat above a fire shimmers and the best way to describe "a cloud of radioactive material".

NOW here is an interesting site (www.faceoftomorrow.com) that aims to find a city's identity from morphing together the faces of people found there.

The site shows how a photographer has taken a snap of people in places such as Brazil, Japan and Turkey.

Then with a little computer wizardry brought them all together to show a composite of both a male and female resident of major towns. It evens offers advice on how you could do it yourself in your own town.
