A GOAL from substitute Gary Jackson secured all three points for Clitheroe from a scrappy 1-0 win at Rocester.

Despite never playing at their best, Clitheroe were still too strong for their hosts in this Unibond One clash, although for much of the game a goalless draw looked the most likely result.

Chances on goal were few and far between in the opening half for both sides, but the better opportunities fell to Clitheroe.

Stuart Todhunter saw a shot blocked, Steve McDonald's strong run and shot just sailed over the crossbar and Chris Nestor came close with a header.

The breakthrough came on 74 minutes when Adam Gardner's long clearance was missed by the Rocester defender.

Jackson was clean through on goal and he made no mistake as he rammed a low shot through the goalkeeper's legs.

Rocester provided a late fright for Clitheroe though, and Kris Richens was well alert to block a close range shot from Paul McMahon in the closing moments.

However, there was no joy at home for Chorley as they faced Eastwood Town.

John Hughes' side were behind after 24 minutes when Shaw put Eastwood in front from the penalty spot, but David Eatock put the Magpies level seven minutes later with a penalty.

Chorley looked set to take a point from the Victory Park clash but five minutes from time slipped up when a Chris Perkins own goal handed Eastwood their winner.

Former Nottingham Forest star Nigel Jemson inspired Ilkeston Town's 5-3 victory over struggling Rossendale United.

However, it was Dale who struck first in the eight-goal thriller with Forsyth netting after seven minutes but the lead lasted just two minutes as Hawley replied for the home side.

Jemson put Ilkeston in front on 16 minutes and Swincoe added a third before half-time.

It looked as though Dale were in for a battering as Jemson and Hanley increased the home side's advantage early in the second half, but a Swincoe own goal gave United a little hope - though their third goal from Cartridge came too late to make a difference.
