BOSSES at a footwear store in Rossendale have donated a free pair of trainers to Corrie's Sam Aston for helping to bring a ray of sunshine into a pensioners' evening.

Young Sam, who plays cheeky Chesney Brown in the hit ITV soap, travelled 300-miles home just 24 hours after rubbing shoulders with the rich and famous at the TV Quick Awards.

Bacup's 11-year-old Sam, had been partying in London on Monday night after scooping the prestigious Best Soap Newcomer prize at the TV Quick Awards.

But true to his word Sam made the trip home to draw the raffle at the pensioner's annual event.

Held at Bacup Leisure Hall in Burnley Road, Sam, was asked to attend by family friend and organiser of the event councillor Jimmy Eaton.

And to thank him for his efforts, bosses at Bacup-based Sutton's, have told Sam he can choose a pair of trainers to any value.

The Haslingden High School pupil said: "It's great news. I wasn't expecting it at all but I'll make sure that I pick the most expensive ones!"
