RESEARCH by the Department for Transport into 36,000 crashes over a period of four years concluded that excessive speed was the main cause of only 18 per cent of crashes causing death or injury.
The report ended by questioning the present policy of scattering speed cameras and road humps in ever-growing profusion.
May we now legitimately expect the East Lancashire Road Safety Par.tnership to get into reverse gear, and rid us all, or most, of these senseless irritants inflicted on the motoring public in recent years?
