AS a law-abiding resident of Whitefield for 24 years, I feel I must air my grievance about the local police and traffic wardens.
On one occasion I was walking the dog past Barclays Bank on Bury New Road, Whitefield, when I witnessed eight youths shouting, urinating and throwing things around. A police car appeared and I could not believe my eyes when it drove straight past.
Next morning, at 7.45, I stopped outside the Barclays Bank cash machine when a police car pulled up and a policeman got out and read me the "Riot Act" for parking on double yellow lines for two minutes!
In August, I parked at the end of my street, in a place which does not hinder anyone, then ran across the road to the chemist, dropped off a prescription and ran back within two minutes to discover that a traffic warden had issued a ticket. He was arrogant and sarcastic.
In that very same spot there had been broken bottles, pizza boxes and a syringe lying there for four days!
