LONG John Silver, Blue Beard and Pugwash went treasure seeking at Crawshawbooth Primary.
Youngsters turned up to class dressed as their favourite pirate to launch book week at the Burnley Road school, in Rossendale.
Crawshawbooth poet Ian Bland also visited to ask pupils for help in finishing some of his poems.
Headteacher Paul Gabriel said: "He was absolutely superb. Their imagination was really fired. It was good to see."
The school holds a book fair every lunchtime and after school, so far raising £800, with a percentage going to school funds.
