More than 40 youngsters were nominated from mosques and churches to take part in a five-a-side football tournament in Blackburn.
All the players aged 12 to 14 were then picked at random and placed into different teams at the competiton held at St Wilfrid's Sports Hall. Organised by the Blackburn With Darwen Interfaith Council and staff from Audley Sports Centre the day turned out to be a huge success.
Rosalind Davies of the Blackburn With Darwen Policy Department explained, "It was a first of its kind in Blackburn with Darwen. Teams from the Muslim and Christian faiths were picked out of a hat to form teams A and B etc to create a sense of belonging regardless of faith and cultural background.
"Speaking to parents from both the Christian and Muslim faiths at the event, they also thought it was an excellent event which addressed the issues of parallel lives and working together regardless of background."
Team F were crowned champions.
