Is it not about time the truth was told?
We have waged war on Iraq on the premise that there were WMD's which were a threat to our whole well being.
We have now seen the destruction these WMDs can bring - 12000 innocent civilians killed and still counting. Thousands more injured and maimed for life. A country's infrastructure reduced to rubble.
Whether there are WMD's in Iraq is irrelevant because the real WMD's are all around us.
The world is going through dramatic climate changes and we do not need scientists to tell us this.
It is there for all to see and yet we merrily plod along with little or no care for the present or future.
Who really dictates our future? We do. The greatest power broker in today's fast moving economies is the consumer. If the consumer took steps to reduce the use of unfriendly fuels then we may have a brighter future.
The USA is the largest polluter (40%) and yet they are unwilling to sign up to the Kyoto Protocol which sets targets for all industrialised countries to reduce emissions.
Should the rest of us not boycott all USA products?
Boycotting US goods for the worthy cause would not only set a positive precedence but would send shudders to the US policy makers and all those who thrive on US economic prosperity, without giving due consideration to the wider moral issue of environmental catastrophe.
It is forecast that many countries all over the world will lose coastlines in the next 50 years, and faced with this should we not act now?
