EVERYONE hates them. Drivers who clog up the motorway by hogging the middle lane and motorists who think the outside lane is their God-given property, to use as they see fit.
And, as we reveal today, people who police believe are driving badly could potentially be guilty of much more than just causing frustration and danger to others.
So we applaud the initiative launched by the Highways Agency and police to try and educate drivers and ensure they use our motorway lanes properly.
Signs and police warnings will help.
But more still needs to be done.
Why is motorway driving still not part of our much revamped and updated driving test?
Some people drive badly deliberately but many others do so because of ignorance and a lack of confidence, which, in many cases, could be tackled before they even venture down the sliproad.
And isn't it also about time that those of us who use the motorway as a grown-up version of the dodgems showed the maturity and courtesy to use our driving skills properly?
