THE Village Hotel and Leisure Club in Bury has revealed plans to build a £1.3m extension.
The hotel, situated at Waterfold Business Park off Rochdale Road, will see an extra 28 bedrooms added to the rear of the building, taking the total number of rooms up to 128.
Owners De Vere Group hope to start work in November, subject to planning permission being granted by Bury Council. The development would be scheduled for completion by May next year.
Although details have yet to be finalised, five extra jobs are expected to be created.
The hotel already boasts 98 ensuite bedrooms with restaurants and conference facilities, along with a state-of-the-art leisure club.
Steve Lee, the hotel's general manager, said: "Since its launch back in August 2001, Village Hotel and Leisure Club has seen a huge growth in demand for rooms, hence the decision to build the new extension.
"We are delighted that we should soon be able to provide additional quality bedrooms for visitors to the area."
The De Vere group, based in Warrington, formerly owned the Village Hotel in George Street, Prestwich, but it has recently been sold after bosses said it "no longer fitted the brand profile".
