SKIPPER Steve Stott is back in contention for a place in the BACUP BOROUGH team at Abbey Hey tonight (7.45pm).

Stott has been out of action with a broken arm sustained in the FA Cup defeat to Chorley a month ago but he is set to return to the squad as Borough attempt to go back to the top of Moore & Co NWCL Division One.

They lost their place at the summit over the weekend to Fleetwood Town following Friday night's home draw with Great Harwood Town.

Bacup boss Brent Peters said: "Steve's been back in training and he's thrown his hat in the ring.

"Whether he will start or not is something I'll have to think about but he will be involved somewhere along the line, which is a boost because he's an influential player.

"We haven't necessarily missed him because results have been good but we need to have a quality squad so having him back is a bonus."

Phil Baylis and Paul Davies remain Bacup's long term injury absentees but Jamie Bates is set to come back after missing the Great Harwood following a groin injury he picked up in last Wednesday's win over Salford City.

RAMSBOTTOM UNITED manager Derek Egan is anxious to recover some lost ground at Glossop North End tonight (7.45pm).

His side slipped to seventh in NWCL Division One on Saturday after losing an equaliser at Curzon Ashton, during what Egan claimed was an over-long injury time period.

He said: "My father was timing it and said there were nine minutes overtime played.

"There were a couple of stoppages but not nine minutes-worth so I don't know where it came from.

"But it's really, really disappointing to concede so late because we did deserve to win."

Bernard Morley is due back from holiday for tonight's game but Ewan Purcell's continues to keep him out.
