IT is about time that something was sorted out concerning the special care baby unit (SCBU) at Fairfield Hospital.
The powers-that-be should leave well alone and keep this important unit open.
I wrote to Tony Blair and received a reply telling me that the contents had been passed onto the Department of Health. Could it be they are passing the buck?
Since then I have received letters from Greater Manchester NHS and the Department of Health, informing me that the views of the public will be carefully considered by Primary Care Trusts throughout Greater Manchester. A decision is likely to be made in the first half of 2005.
