MORECAMBE continued their surge up the Conference table thanks to a Saturday lunchtime meal of roast Lamb at Christie Park.
The Lambs' recent good form meant nothing to Jim Harvey's ultra-confident men as they overcame a misfiring opening period to make it seven league games unbeaten.
Veteran striker Bob Taylor led Tamworth's line with force during the first period - but all his effort came to nothing as the Shrimps defended comfortably and Wayne Curtis really should have scored on a rare Morecambe break.
However Curtis, always a threat, volleyed a good chance into the side netting following good work from Jim Bentley.
Then Terry McFlynn saw a long range shot well saved by Tamworth keeper Ryan Price, while Garry Hunter was also denied as Morecambe finished the half strongly.
And they continued their dominance after the break.
Just three minutes into the second period Michael Twiss set Morecambe on their way from six-yards after Curtis was denied by Price and then the post, leaving his livewire partner with one of the easiest goals he will ever score.
That was his seventh strike of the season and continued his imperious form.
Morecambe were totally in control by now and when the impressive Kieran Walmsley bravely threw himself at a loose ball to head home for 2-0 on the hour it really was game over.
Walmsley was standing head and shoulders above anyone else on the field and was only inches away from scoring again seconds later but his perfect volley from distance beat Price but flew just over the crossbar.
A third Morecambe goal was on the cards and it duly arrived nine minutes from time when Hunter's through ball caught the Tamworth defence cold and Thompson nipped between Price and a defender to grab his second goal of the season.
Tamworth were restricted to long range efforts after the break as the Shrimps warmed up for their Saturday trip to Forest Green in some style.
But they will have to make that trip without midfielder Jimmy Kelly. Kelly has not played a league game for the Shrimps this season after joining the club from Scarborough. Now he will go under the knife in an attempt to cure his Achilles tendon injury.
MORECAMBE: Sollitt, Blackburn, Bentley, Swan, Heard (Stringfellow 66), McFlynn (Carlton 60), Walmsley, Hunter, Perkins, Twiss, Curtis (Thompson 59). Unused subs: Rogan, Robinson.
