Preston North End have rejected Leed's bid for David Healy, labelling it 'laughable'.
Kevin Blackwell has made no secret of the fact that he'd like to sign the striker and acted quickly, after seeing him open the scoring for Northern Ireland in the 3-3 draw with Austria
United tabled a £100,000 bid this morning, a figure which appears to be a far cry of the Lilywhites valuation of the 25-year-old.
The former Manchester united player turned down a new three-year-deal last month but Chairman Derek Shaw hasn't yet ruled out the possibility of him staying:
"The offer we made is still on the table. It would make him one of the highest paid players in the Club's history and all of PEN would like to see David sign it."
Today's events will give Saturday's trip to Elland Road an added twist, with Healy a certainty to be on target.
*John Curtis has been recalled by Portsmouth, with Harry Redknapp's side suffering a defensive injury crisis ahead of Monday's visit of Tottenham. The former Leicester City defender made six appearances for Preston.
