COULD I offer some simple advice to Jacki Harris before she pens another scurrilous letter to the Radcliffe Times, Oct 7). Get your facts right.

To answer her first question -- "Where was I on Sunday, September 19?" -- well I was probably recovering from a full season of managing two -- yes two -- junior Cricket teams for Radcliffe Cricket Club. They played on Monday and Wednesday evenings throughout the summer and have Sunday evening nets in winter. So I think this takes care of Jacki's concern that perhaps I hadn't been standing on a muddy cricket pitch.

Yes, Jacki, I can can paint and have done so at RCC more than once.

To answer further points she makes.

I am a life member at Radcliffe, attending nearly all the home games this season, and I have missed only one AGM in the past seven years. I also send tombola prizes (some of those you were sticking prices on were probably donated by myself or my family).

I offered to fund-raise, organised a "do" myself to bring in £500. But my offer was turned down by the committee. And, yes, I have sponsored a match. In addition, seven members of my family are full club members.

Hopefully this letter adequately responds to Jacki Harris's attempt at character assassination. She suggested I do something positive and I have. The effort and time you ask for I could give willingly; what I do with my money is my prerogative.

By the way, is Jacki Harris sure that the people she is describing are really people like me -- or members of the cricket club committee?

DAVE OGDEN,

Countess Lane, Radcliffe.
