Motorists gave the £2 million cut-price solution to the town's Bury Bridge traffic problems a massive thumbs down.
Tuesday, normally regarded as the easiest day with half-day closing turned out to be "late for work day" for commuters using the new system.
THEIR FINEST (2) HOURS: Bury's army firefighters came up against their worst blaze so far during the service's strike when a fire broke out at a local factory containing hundreds of gallons of highly inflammable thinners and latex. It took three Green Goddesses and a special RAF fire-fighting tender two hours to control the blaze which broke out in the single-storey factory building of Tivoli Kay Adhesives Ltd in Harvey Street, Elton.
ROBIN'S ROUND: Thought to have broken a wing, a robin was taken to Greenmount Wild Bird Hospital and was found to be drunk! The bird was found staggering around by workers at Bass Charrington, Pilsworth. It is believed the robin had eaten a worm that was saturated with beer spilled on the ground.
