AS a council tax payer like many others in this town, I am very curious and confused as to the sale of the old Central Police Station.
Please correct me if I am wrong here, did the police once reside in the municipal building in the old town hall?
Then they moved to Northgate in the precincts of the King George V halls, which belonged to the council and the council ratepayers as it was then.
Now everyone knows that we all pay for the police out of the council tax bill, so does that not make the police accountable to the council?
The question is this when did the police scrape the money together to buy the Central Police Station for themselves?
And if this mystery buyer buys this building, should the police give this money back to the council tax payers and the council? We the council tax payers need to know.
