A LIBRARY will be celebrating its 80th birthday and welcoming back visitors after a £100,000 facelift.
Colne Road Library, Burnley, which is due to re-open its doors on Thursday, October 21, has received a major refurbishment through funding from Lancashire County Council.
The library's facelift has included the creation of a disabled ramp, a new lift, automatic doors and new disabled toilets.
The ground floor is now more spacious and easier to get around, as the old shelving has been removed, the counter has been relocated and there is new lighting and carpets.
Library users will also be able to access new stock and the People's Network computers are in a revamped area.
The exterior of the library has also been repainted.
Lancashire County Council's Cabinet Member for Cultural Services and Communications, Marcus Johnstone, said: " It is almost 80 years to the day since Colne Road Library opened its doors.
"I am sure the original builders and staff would appreciate its new look."
