CORRESPONDENTS Mrs Austin and R. G. Purdy (October 5) attempt the impossible. They both try to convince your readers that the BNP is a "normal" political party and should be treated as such, whereas in fact it is nothing of the kind.

Its only policy is racism and this was shown to be true by the BBC programme, The Secret Agent, which obviously got up Mrs Austin's nose, and which was broadcast on Thursday, July 15 -- well after the June elections. So either Mrs Austin is mistaken, or she is deliberately trying to fool your readers.

It was interesting to read some of the comments on the programme in the national press. For example:

"Moronic, vicious and full of hate, the racist thugs exposed . . .", Daily Mail, July 16.

"It must now be overwhelmingly clear that this disgusting group has no place in a civilised society", Independent, July 16.

"The BNP is not a legitimate political party", The Sun, July 15.

I don't think that I need to say more.
