YOUNG people living on the Hillock and Victoria estates in Whitefield are set to benefit from improved leisure activities thanks to a £15,000 cash boost.
The grant has been donated by Rivers Housing Association, which owns many homes on the estates, to Groundwork Trust, Bury.
Groundwork involves many partners in working in deprived areas to improve the quality of the local environment.
One of its schemes is the Youth Works programme, which has been in operation in Whitefield for two and a half years and aims to provide eight to 25-year-olds with the skills to reduce crime and improve their social, physical and economic environments.
The grant will help to finance its ongoing work on the estates.
Currently, Youth Works is working with young skateboarders and recently they secured funding to buy mobile skateboard equipment thanks to Whitefield and Unsworth Area Board.
