DARWEN manager Steve Mullen is enjoying a new lease of life after relaunching his playing career at the ripe old age of 45!
Mullen starred in Darwen's 2-0 win against Oldham Town last weekend and is hoping to start in tomorrow's NWCL Division Two clash against Leek CSOB -- if selected.
For Mullen will not be pulling rank and will only play if assistants Paul Brown senior and Mick Anderson give him the nod.
Mullen missed the 1-0 midweek defeat at Nelson with flu but is now looking forward to the home clash against Leek.
The Anchor Ground boss, who has kept fit by playing in a veterans league in Bolton, said: "I enjoyed last week but I will only play tomorrow if Paul and Mick say so. I want to be in the team on merit and not just because I am the boss."
Mullen has brought in Paul Aldred and Jamie McDonald from West Lancs League side Bolton County while Blackburn Sunday League player Ross Henderson has also made a big impact.
He can also call on the services of Paul Brown junior, who has made himself available again, but Craig Andre (hamstring) is out while Matt Taylor (bruised foot) is doubtful.
