A PRESTWICH church will celebrate its 100th anniversary on Monday (Oct 18) with a special service.
St Hilda's CE Church in Whittaker Lane will be the venue for a centenary mass at 7.30pm on the exact day the church was opened 100 years ago.
Communion will be given by the Bishop of Beverley, Martyn Jarrett, and also present will be the Bishop of Manchester, Nigel McCulloch, and the Mayor and Mayoress of Bury, Councillors Barry and Sharon Briggs.
Celebrations will begin this evening (Friday, Oct 15) with a dinner at Our Lady of Grace RC Church in Fairfax Road, Prestwich, where guest speaker will be the Venerable George Austin, the former Archdeacon of York.
There will be a special Evensong on Sunday at St Hilda's, starting at 6pm, to be attended by Rev Dr John Findon, from Bury Parish Church.
