PENDLE planners have urged people to be 'more politically correct' when objecting to planning applications.
Coun David Robertson made the request after reading remarks querying "the type of people" who would occupy proposed flats in Spring Lane, Colne.
People living near sites subject to planning applications are invited to comment by the council and any objections can then be flagged up with councillors during discussions over whether plans should go ahead.
Coun Robertson said: "I'm not sure comments like 'more children will further diminish the quality of life for local residents' and 'queries the type of people that will occupy the units, ie: one parent families with lots of children' say much about the people living there.
"It brands all lone parents as having lots of children that are all a public nuisance."
Coun Tony Greaves added: "There was a time when only legitimate planning concerns were included."
